Results of the auction Artslimit online 8
The eighth separate online auction of works of art organized by the auction portal Artslimit culminated in the considerable interest of bidders during the bidding process on Sunday, September 22, in the early evening.
The starting price of CZK 10,598,000 was increased to CZK 24,015,000. A total of 229 works were auctioned, 206 items were sold. 300 active bidders took part in the auction. The results demonstrate not only the ever-increasing interest in online auctions, but also the increasing attention of collectors and admirers of fine art for quality works across periods and styles, often at lower starting prices than is usual for hall auctions.
Two works by sought-after artists became the most expensive. One was the oil on canvas "Bouquet of Polyantia" by Václav Špála. The new owner paid CZK 837,500 for it. Oil on cardboard "Still life with fruit" by the same artist was purchased by the buyer for CZK 487,500. Auctioneers were also interested in two oils by the landscape painter Václav Radimský, demonstrating the author's anchoring in the tradition of French Impressionism. The oil on canvas "Norman coast" was auctioned at the same price as Špálovo's work, i.e. for CZK 837,500. The painting "Water surface with water lilies" was sold for CZK 625,000.
The PRIM TYCHO BRAHE KOSMOS watch from ELTON hodinářská a.s. achieved the highest increase in today's online auction by 442%. (starting price CZK 90,000, achieved price CZK 487,500).
A significant price percentage increase (by 367%) was recorded by Emil Filla's work "Still Life with a Guitar" from 1929, which was auctioned for CZK 700,000 (starting price CZK 150,000).Phil's "Still Life with a Cup and an Apple" exceeded the reserve price of CZK 35,000 more than four times. The price achieved was 152,500 CZK.
Ota Janeček was even represented at the auction twelve times. The bronze sculpture "The Shape" was sold for CZK 637,500, and the most expensive of the paintings was the oil "Silver Night" (CZK 325,000). As usual, attention was also focused on four works by the important and highly sought-after artist Vlastimil Beneš. The most expensive was the oil on hardboard "Staré Stromy" sold for CZK 312,500. Eight works by the painter, graphic artist and illustrator Josef Jíra were presented at the auction. The oil on canvas "Jadran" achieved the highest price, it exceeded the starting price of CZK 50,000 more than five times, the new owner paid CZK 268,750 for it.
Buyers' interest was also focused on the collectible gems of this auction, which included the Rolex Datejust Tridor watch or the limited edition Calatrava Officer from Patek Philippe, which was released on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the founding of this famous watchmaker.
As part of the charity auction, the prototype of the new generation of the popular PRIM TYCHO BRAHE KOSMOS watch, inspired by the famous astronomer, was auctioned. The Ústí observatory provided ELTON with data on the position of the stars in the year the company was founded in 1949, and together they created a unique watch with a map of the starry sky from 1949. The hammer price is intended for the renovation of the Ústí observatory to its original state from 1929 . The watch auctioneer will also have the unique opportunity to send this watch into the stratosphere with the space agency, making it a Czech historical unique and the first Czech watch in the stratosphere.
