35 years ago we opened the free Czech art market.
The KODL Gallery commemorates the 35th anniversary of its presence in the Czech art market with an autumn auction day. The date refers to the autumn of 1989, when the first fine art auction was held in Czechoslovakia after years of prohibition, with the participation of the gallery's founder, Martin Kodl.

For 35 years we have been making Czech art world-class and bringing the world of art to Czech collectors.
In 35 years, the KODL Gallery has organised over 90 large hall auctions and is the leader of the domestic auction market with many sales records. At the auction on the eve of November 1989, art was sold for 400,000 CSK. Currently, the most successful KODL Gallery auction had a turnover of over 400 million CZK.

We were the first and we still are!

We hold several of the top of the Czech auction market.
Emil Filla's painting Golden Fish was sold at the KODL Gallery in 2000. The domestic auction record it set lasted six years. This is the only work on the Czech auction market that has managed to do that.

We are the auction house that has set the most author records, including the highest price achieved for a work by a living artist. This was Theodor Pištěk's painting Adieu, Guy Moll, which sold for more than 25 million CZK in 2020.

We were the first to surpass the sum of 100 million CZK for an auctioned work at an auction in the Czech Republic. It was the painting Old Prague Motif by Bohumil Kubišta, which sold for more than 123 million CZK in 2022.

František Kupka's painting Divertimento II was auctioned at the KODL Gallery in 2020 and for a while held the world auction record for this artist.

The turnover of the KODL Gallery auctions accounts for almost half of the total auction sales in the Czech Republic.

The success rate of the KODL Gallery auctions reaches up to 100%.
