85th Auction, Lot 6 This high-quality example of the distinctive work of a sought-after painter who is already fully established on the art market is characterised by its spontaneous gestural brushwork and strong, fresh colours. The work represents a fundamental thematic area of current interest in the human figure in particular. In his work, however, in addition to this critically focused symbolised figuration, the artist also devoted himself to a structural abstraction within the sphere of utopia, which formed the second thematic scope of his work. The composition, built with expressive brushwork, deals with Typlt’s fundamental subject matter of children, who for him are not a symbol of innocence, but become the exact opposite. The painting was presented at the author’s solo exhibition in Berlin (Lubomír Typlt: Somnambul, C&K Gallery, Berlin, 16 October – 28 November 2020) and published in the related catalogue (Ch. Bühling-Schultz (ed.), Somnambul, Berlin, 2020, unpaged). The work comes directly from the author’s studio. 50% of the proceeds from this artwork will be credited to the account of the Bátor Tábor Foundation and will be fully exempt from auction fees.
